Unhappy That it for the 1.6a

Didn't see that anymore at newegg so I assume this immortal processor is gone. It'll be missed.

Thats the only cpu they fased out and ppl were saying "they didn't close it out because it was a good o/cer" give me a break. They phased that out for a reason. Why did they pick the 1.6a to phase out???

Because it's the lowest speed grade and they usally do get rid of the slow chips to make way for the newer ones in the lineup just like they did with the 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 and guess waht comes next 1.6.

Thats what i first figured but they still have the 1.4, 1.5 and but not the 1.6a. According to intel's website the 1.4 and 1.5 are still avalible.

I believe the 1.4 and 1.5 P4's are the Socket 473. That may explain why they are keeping those around, to maintain that market.

Or it just may help to explain why NewEgg has enough in stock to continue advertising and selling them, since its not a very big market.

Ya thats socket 423. The 1.4 and 1.5 are used by thousands of mom and pop shops. PPl don't know any different, they got a " p-4" thats all they know. LOL. Intel just updated their web site and they still list them.
