    CD backup weirdness

Howdy- I was trying to back up my Age of Empires II disc using the lastest version of NERO, and it wouldn't go at all. It stalls after about 10 sec no matter what and gives multiple reading errors. I have backed up other much newer discs that say they're copywrited, but AoE II is the only one that wont work. Has anybody else had this problem?

    Cool

It depends on the copy protection scheme. Some schemes are easy to copy than others. Most burning software won't read the copy protection properly. Burning software that are able to do 1:1 copies in the RAW mode tend to be more successful at backing up protected CDs.

Thanks for the tip - what kind of software burns 1:1 in RAW mode? I think I read somewhere that clonecd is a good program -- does that do what you are talking about?

CloneCD is a good choice. It would be helpful if you identified the protection scheme being use so your CloneCD settings are optimized. You can download gereric CloneCD profiles to help with the backup.
