You know I just installed one of the CompUSA CC's and I must say I'm pleased with it. Yeah its only $20 and all you gotta do is plug it in. I almost order the Bestbyte one but then with shipping it was essentially the same price.

They dont Sell CC's at my Compusa (not that I shop there). Now if you want cheap got to a party supply store and buy one of those things that glow in the dark for about a day (known in these parts as glow sticks).

That would be pretty pointless. Most CompUSA's are going to towards a small area of the store which is almost geared towards the OCer and/or the case modder. Lighted fans, copper heatsinks though none were the elite ones, windows etc.

Just noticed in Compusa last week a small end-shelf with case mod gear. they had cold cathode lights some nice braided cables in silver also rounded cables in blue and red and a selection of laser cut fans. I was quiet surprised. I think case modding is starting to expand rather rapidly.

You know it really is. There's a thread in here about how Home Shopping Channel even sells PC's with CC's and windows. Realistically this evolution was bound to happen when you think about it. With some freaks and yes I'm one spending hours a day next to their boxes why not make it look nice?

Also regarding CompUSA, while its true that most of the people working there aren't as knolwedge as the average SF'er, remember that for every OCer or case modder walking in their doors there are ten people who aren't OCers or case modders and don't even know what Linux is. Considering the CompUSA demographic they're doing pretty darn well IMO. Of course having said that I still look to the Internet for my supplies. But it is nice to have one in my town

Hey saps, what brand of CC is that you got from compusa? The pctoys one? I got one a few weeks ago, and am pretty happy with it, but mine cost me $30, wondering why the 10 dollar difference. I hoped it'd be brighter, but I guess that's a good reason to get another one right?

No I got the $20 generic ones. I ended up getting a second one actually. The cheaper ones probably aren't quite as bright as the $30 ones but with two I have ample lighting inside, not to mention my three lighted case fans

I was actually pondering getting that lighted fan for my cpu, but I don't think I wanna take that kind of hit in cfm from my panaflo with the o/c I'm doing on the chip. Maybe I'll just get the clear one that moves about the same, just no led's
