will a 2.53B be able to fit in my mobo?
I've got a basic i845 chipset, with no overclocking features on my motherboard. If I placed a 2.53B CPU in the motherboard would it not function or would it run at 2.53 mhz on a 400 FSB? I'm not sure...If it works I'll get it, and if not I'll just get the 2.5A. Anyone know? Thanks!

from x-bit labs review:
"Firstly, we can state with all the certainty that when Intel launches its Pentium 4 CPUs using 533MHz Quad Pumped Bus, they will surely work well on ASUS P4B266"
you can find the review here: http://www.xbitlabs.com/mainboards/asus-p4b266/

great, i'm just a little worried that it won't work because of my crappy OEM motherboard.... But I guess it's based off of the i845D chipset since it uses DDR RAM which isn't even supported by official i845 chipsets according to intel... If I place a 533 mhz CPU in there and it is not compatible, will my mobo fry? or just not boot?

It will work fine, you just need to set the AGP/PCI divider correctley (4/5 I think?)
PS: 845 has always supported DDR, but at introduction many manufacturers released boards based on SDRAM as a low cost solution.
