Shuttle AK35GT2 vs Asus A7V266-C
Title says it all.
The shuttle board is a KT333 board w/ 6pcis, 4 dimm slots, sound, ata133 and all that fun stuff.
The asus board is KT266a, 5pcis, 3dimm slots, sound, ata133 also.
The computer is NOT going to be overclocked, it will be used for audio recording/mastering. (will use the onboard sound for output but have a high end audio card for input and all). Stability/reliability is key. I remember back in the day when shuttle boards were absolute crap but since the ak31 boards, I've heard pretty much nothing but good about them.
Anyone have any thoughts or experience with either board that they'd like to share?
*edit* It's come down to these two boards due to extreme budget requirements... I know what I can get for as little as $20 more, but is impossible with the budget I'm working with. I can get either of these boards for under $80. And please don't recommend SIS or ALi boards as they are incompatible with some of the high end audio equipment thats going to be hooked up to this comp.

Yea I have some info to pass to you.
We have had 3 Shuttle mobo's in the past 6months.
None of them ever made it out of the shop and into a customers posession.
All of them were DOA, or died during stress and bench testing.

My AK31 has been a champ. No problems at all, and has been completely stable, even o/c.

Shuttles are rock solid w/no or even low oc. can't go wrong or do better for the price, imho.

another thought that just came to mind is what about a RAID board, since reliability is one of your main concerns. you can probably get the GTR somewhere used for even less than the GT2, which is 266A like the Asus (the GTR is 266A, i mean, not the GT2). anyway, just a thought.

I have the Shuttle AK35GTR and it is rock solid and I have basically become a Shuttle fan because of this board. Bought an older Shuttle mobo for my friend recently and I'll tell ya, there is not a single bad thing I can say about them. I don't know what Shuttle's past reputation has been like, but in the last 1 year or so they have been rocking and rolling.
I'd buy a Shuttle over an Asus board anyday! Asus boards are buggy as hell in my opinion. Abit, Epox are also good. Heck, I'd buy from MSI or FIC or ECS before even considering Asus.
Yes, I am very anti-Asus.
