    question about code and games?

    i would like to learn to program so that i can make my own FPS for myself. what sofware will i need to do so...like ,,what software and lang, program for art, and anything else i may need. i know this is a dumb question but im just curious and eager to learn.

    Even better, www.gamedev.net. Visit their For Beginners link here. And if you ever have any problems with pretty much ANYTHING, they have the greatest game development forums on earth (just don't ask what API to learn or you will get smacked around). Don't think to big for your first game, especially if you don't have any programming experience. Oh, and good luck!

    You can always download the DX8.1 SDK and study the code in the sample programs. Its a good place to start.

    i tried doing a roleplaying game for a school project. I used C++ with Direct X SDK. have fun and don't think too big for your first one. I worked with 4 other people on mine and we never got AI working or the battle system. Looked like Final Fantasy I though
