How d heck do u perform a LOW LEVEL FORMATTING on your hard disk?
how can i perform a low level formating on my hard disk. i wana perform this on an old system 233mhs, 96RAM, etc. the system has no OS installed at current but i do have access to DOS thru the start up disk. i wana know how can i performa low level format to my hard disk. what are the parameters if any???

What kind of HDD is it? On my IBM HDD I use IBM Drive Fitness that is on a floppy and it can low level format. There's probably some generic utilities out there that will do this for any HDD. Try looking at www.downloads.com

most hard drive manufacturers have a program to partition and format the drive.
find out what type of hard drive it is,visit the manufacturers website,download the program and it should create a boot floppy for you.

i just took it out and it read SEGATE On it. so i went to seagates's site and downloaded a program form this address http://www.seagate.com/support/disc/...s/discwiz.html
the program is called DiscWizard Starter Edition. when i opened the program after downlaoding it, it aksed me to put an empty flopy inside and than copied a few files on d floppy. 2morow i will insert that floppy in my new system and see if it helps any. plz go that site and tel me what u think, iz that the right program i downlaoded.
