    Question Sound options in UT2003?

I just got UT2003 and had recently put in a SoundBlaster Audigy. Well... I know nothing about sound options, whats the best one to put it on, and what are the differences between them?

I think they are software, hardware, hardware + EAX? Does that make sense? I've heard software was better, but I'd think you'd want to take the stress from the cpu and put it on the sound card right?

    thanks

I wouldnt go about making the recommendation just yet CE, not that I am saying the card cant do it. I have been hearing alot of Nay say about UT2k3 (even for a finished product) so I wouldnt expect even the sound engine to be up to spec. You can go ahead and run it, but I wouldnt expect to be wowed.

For those with a less robust computer and need every FPS they can get, use the lowest sound settings possible as enabling EAX will lower your FPS dramatically.

I noticed with the +EAX option after a few games I'd get a squealing type sound out of the speakers. I don't know if this is my speakers or the card OR the game. So i backed it to hardware, and it sounds fine. I'm going to try the new Audigy drivers and see if they help.

Question : Would surround sound in this game be available at all levels? I only have 2.1 speakers but i'm thinking of getting 4.1 if i get these sound issues resolved.

5.1 generally constitutes surround. If it's available, it might work in 4.1...
