    Need help!

    Hey guys,
At school, I built this computer with all old spare parts that were laying around. I got it all together and all of a sudden when I turn it on, I don't get any video and the PC internal speaker does one long beep and then off for a second or two, and just keeps on doing that. Do you have any clue what's going on? The motherboard is a P2 slot Asus motherboard. That's pretty much all I can tell you about the motherboard.

    Thanks!

Not sure, but I think a repeating long beep means it's the ram.
Try reseating it or try some different if possible.

Okay I will have to try and reseat the RAM or put some different RAM in. Won't you still be able to see video without the RAM?

Don't think it will POST without the ram.
Can you give more details about the system? Board model? Video card or on-board?

For what its worth, I had the same beep sequence on a newer Epox 8k3a. The board has a LED that displays a 2-digit boot sequence code on it. Mine gave me a RAM search code. Reseat of the DIMM module did it.

It has a PCI video card in it. I will put different RAM in it tomorrow and see what happens.

    Thanks for your responses!
