And so I went to the store one day with my lobster of course and saw the love of my life. It was an orange. And it was blue. Blue like the dirt on the back of the apple. It was a blue apple. Blue with dirt. Dirt with blue.

i just bought my first* computer!

well, i woke up the other day thinking, "i need to go to costco. we're getting low on milk." and so my friend and i left for costco. i've been thinking about getting a computer sometime in the next year, but i thought i would get a nikon 105mm micro lens first...turns out i bought the computer instead, hehe. i got the computer at costco, as i thought it was a great price that they had it at. it's a laptop (i'm a college guy now...i need to be able to write a bunch of crap away from my room and roommate) and it was about $900. i know it's not a "monster gaming machine" or anything like that, nor did i even buy it to play games (that's what my friends desktop is for) but the specs certainly aren't that bad.

    toshiba satellite:
    14.1" XGA TFT active matrix
    20GB harddrive
celeron 1.13GHz (yeah, it's a celeron, oh well)
    256MB PC133 ram
    3 USB ports
    printer port
    monitor port
    windows XP home
    56k/v.90 modem
    10/100 ethernet
    pc card slot
    8x dvd
    3.5" floppy
32mb (shared from ram) intel graphics chipset

i can actually play aliens vs predators 2 on it, so i'm pleased

*it's not the first time i've USED a computer, hehe. just the first time i've completely bought it myself and can call it mine

How are those intel graphics? I've heard that they are on the sucky side. You mentioned you can play Aliens vs. Predator 2 on it, which is awesome, any luck with another game (i.e. Wacraft 3, Battlefield 1942, NWN)?

It should be able to handle WC3. I have an old i815 mobo with integrated graphics, and that can handle it pretty well. Seeing that this vid card has 32mb of ram, I'm guessing that it's a more advanced version of the card that I have.

determan...they also sell frying oil by the gallons...pure unadulterated peanut oil...MMMMM! it's like the stuff we use at work (i fry chicken at work). costco is such an awesome store

shadowfire...i live about 10 minutes away from a fry's store. but the fry's stores in this city are grocery stores. it was strange...when i first came here, i asked the waitress who was serving me at a restaurant i went to whether or not this place had a fry's...she said yes and gave us directions. my friend and i were shocked and it must have shown in our eyes, because she couldn't for the life of her figure out why we were so happy about a grocery store. she even said, "...it's uhh...it's a grocery store."

    ahhh...memories

i'll try out WC3 when i get home tonight (posting from the library right now) and i don't have battlefield 1942, though i want it very much. i know starcraft runs smoothly

Peanut oil is the hardest to burn but has the most cholesterol.

Virgin olive oil has the least cholesterol but burns easiest. Just have be carefull with it and you'll live longer.

Or eat fish at least twice a week. Omega B oils(found in all fish, even fish fingers) are soluable and help break down saturated fats in the blood stream.

we use the peanut oil for those huge pressure fryers at work for that reason...that it's hard to burn. if we get too much burnt gunk or burnt ANYTHING on those heating coils, a major fire could start.

    i like tuna

now about WC3...it played beautifully on my laptop colors were great and framerates were very good too at 800x600x16 with medium everything except texture detail, which was set to high. it was choppy at 1024x768x32 with high everything though.

it also played grand theft auto 3 decently at 640x480x16
