Swiftec MCX4000-B VS Alpha8942T, which comes out on top?

I'm going to be replacing this crappy assed Volcano, which one of these is better? I bought an alpha, but it hasn't shipped yet, so if the swiftec is MUCH better, i can always cancel. Thanks!

I think the deciding factor between the Alpha PAL8942T and Swiftech MCX4000 is your case pressure. The MCX4000 seems to perform better with a positive pressure, while the PAL8942T seems to perform better with a negative. I'd accredit that to the Swifty liking fans blowing on the heatsink, where-as the Alpha likes fans sucking air off the heatsink.

Case pressure is basically the word for the difference of air going in or out. Negative pressure means more air is going out than in, Positive means more air is going in than out. Both of which are bad things if you'd ask me, it's better to get as close as possible to a 100% equilibrium (equal amounts of air going in and out). There's really no pressure difference between the inside of you're case and outside (from what I understand), it's just big words to confuse people

As for the heatsink issue, the difference between the two is negligable with similar fans. I've seen a test or two that shows a 2 degree difference at best, in the Swifty's favor. But they're both a royal pain to install and they both work best with super-powerful fans.

Doesn't mean that they can fall off easy, though

Get the swifty... its freakin bad a s s! . I have one, with a weak azz 32cfm blue led fan, and my cpu still never reaches 49*C under full load, hehe. It feels good to have a really quiet pc... except for the gf4 copper cooler on my vid card... thats all of a sudden too loud, hehe. But yeah, Ill bet both the swifty and alpha will suit you well, Im just saying swifty because I own one .

Works great with a silent fan .

yeah i kind of want a swifty cause the idea of sucking air away from the heatsink doesnt sound real good hehe even though it probably works it just doesnt SOUND real good ot me lol. but the swifty is out of stock at newegg and nowhere else carries it (or for a decent price/shipping), so i may have to do with it....

Sidewinder's got both the MCX4000 Bare 'Sink and the Retail Box, and they're a VERY GOOD retailer. Pretty sure that they're in stock, too.
