Honestly, who really cares?
Get the card that you think will do the job you want.
I like both companies, and have bought products from both of them.
Until a board using the NV30 is available, and tested against the 9700, it's pointless to argue which is going to be faster, since no one really knows.
Things can look really good on paper....Remember BitBoys? They never got a thing to market. So until Nvida actually delivers the product, keep an open mind, and dont jump to conclusions.

He's right. It's not 8x faster, maybe more like 1.5 - 2x faster than a geforce 4. Turning AF up to 16x may not induce nearly the hit that it would on a geforce4 (or 8x in this case), but it's still not free. Lastly, it can't do 1600x1200, 6AA, 16AF, all details w/ playable frame rates IN ALL GAMES. Look at ut2k3, some people don't mind 30 fps in single player, but most people sure as hell would in an online game, especially when it starts dipping down to 20 or so when there's a ton of action. The 9700 may be a great card, but some people exaggerate it's capabilities.
This is the type of nitpicking that reveals obvious bias. The 9700 is a beast, and is likely the largest leap in power between any two generations of a card. It is not enough that the game DEVOURS any title at 1600*1200,people nock it because it can't pull off this resolution with 6AA and 16AF in this ONE game. Give me a break and give due credit to ATI for releasing a great card in a timely fasion.
