Looking for best DVD-ROM
Can anyone suggest a good DVD-ROM? They are pretty cheap nowadays and I'm thinking of picking one up, but I want to make sure it's fast, compatible with all DVDs etc....don't know too much about them. Could anyone give me any suggestions? I usually shop at Netlink computers, is there one on this page (http://www.ncix.com/canada/productli...inorcatid=1014) that is particularly good?
Thanks in advance.

Lite-On is very good I have one of their 48x cd burners and it works great :P
They are also inexpensive.
Right now I am using a slot load pioneer 16x dvd-rom and I am happy with it, but I have heard problems of it eating up smaller mini cd's. Also you dont want to drag the disc when you pull it out on the Pioneer slot load.

Not Wurm
Toshiba SDM 1612: is prolly the most feature packed DVD-ROM on the market, reads all kindsa media formats, has a kick *** DAE speed, overall good marks.
LiteOn LTR 163: Meets or beats the toshiba drive in alot of performence marks but lacks a few media formats that the Toshiba has (mainly just the DVD-RAM). Has a slightly higer DAE ability then Toshiba, suffers from poor vibration cancelation so will rattle when it hits those high speed, about $5-8 USD cheaper then Toshiba.
Pioneer 106-S: Technology on this beast is getting a little dated, but it was the leader of the pack longer before LiteOn or Toshiba showed up, and even still it performs very strong.
