9000 same as Mobility 9000?
I remember reading in CPU magazine, that the mobility R9000 is the first notebook vid card to be able to run Doom 3 with ALL details at max, with minimal slow down.
I'm rather surprised at this, since one of Id software's designers said this. However, this leads me to question the power of the 9000 and 9000pro for the PC. Are these cards from the same branch of the M9000?

The Mobility Radeon 9000 and Desktop Radeon 9000/Pro are based on the same architecture. The M9000 is clocked a bit lower than the desktop version but performance should be relatively close to the desktop versions of the 9000.
In terms of performance a Radeon 9000 performs at around the level of a regular GeForce3 (Clocked at 200/460 which performs between a Ti200 and a Ti500).

So, does that imply that a Geforce 3 will is enough to handle Doom 3? I think so.

I believe in one of Carmack's .plan's he was aiming to get 30fps at 800x600 on a GeForce3. That is pretty good for the amount of detail this game has.
