Help with reformating....

Ok heres my problem... Old computers HD has so much junk on it, and has so many errors that I just want to reformat it and reinstall win98 on it. Only problem is I don't exactly know how to go about doing this. Most HDs ive reformated came with disks that you just pop in, boot from it, and can reformat and install OS from there, but this one has no disk. I know you can reformat your HD with the winxp install disk if I wanted to put that on there, but not sure if a P2 400, 256mb sdram system could handle it. Thanks for any help

Go to Maxtor's web page and check for their downloadable utility to reformat

Phffff you said you wana install win98. well get a hold of a Windows98 start up disk. boot the computer with that and when you get to the A: prompt type FORMAT C: /S The /S only makes the hard drive bootable with out using the win98 start up disk. if you need more help just IM me

this is exactly what you can do, no need for the maxtor disk
