REally PiSS oFF, DO NOT order from SONYSTYLE.COM

went there to order a DVD burner and the the price it listed was
$352. and after i click ok, they slapped an extra $29 bux to the price for tax.

at 5pm weekeday I tried to cancel the order through the phone and was on hold to wait for a customer rep for 30+min and have to hang up cause i gotta go.

just an hour ago I went on the SonyStyle.com website and clicked on that "LiveHelp" thing to try to cancel the order, and up pop a window and I got a live person chating.

heres how the the conversation went:

Nancy: Hi I'm Nancy, How can I help you
    Me: Hi Nancy
Me: I have an order I need to cancel
    <Nancy has been disconnected>

and after that I can't even go on the live chat anymore. won't connect.

Phuck them, I'm definitelly canceling my order. and I hope no one here will order from them.

Did it say there would be tax added to your order before you finalized it? You could have emailed them about that, just to be on the safe side.

Did some browsing of the sony website and found this:
"In compliance with government tax laws, Sony charges sales tax for orders shipped to all states except the following: Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, Oregon, Nebraska, Vermont, West Virginia and Wyoming. We automatically compute and add sales tax to these orders."

It looks like your from NY, at least that's what it says under your nickname, and it says on the sony site that they add tax to all states, excluding the ones above. I understand that you are frustrated about not being about to cancel an order, but I don't see why you are upset about the tax.

I didn't see the tax added in until I OK the ordreed then the confirmation page shows the tax popping out.

they should have add tax to the final price and showed it to me before asking me for an OK not afterward.

I though it was no tax. like almost all of the online places I shop at.

Well Gen I am amusing that you used a Credit Card to make this transaction.

Call your credit card company and tell them to cancal payment. There isnt a damn thing that Sonystyle can do about that. If they give you beef, bring down the hammer.

If I don't see that they added tax to my order I usually look in the customer service section for a FAQ's to see if they add tax, because almost everything I buy online has tax.

Another vendor that charges sales tax on practically all orders to customers in all states is Crucial (that memory vendor). At least Crucial offers free UPS 2nd-day shipping. But SonyStyle.com not only charges sales tax, but also shipping charges! Couple that to the fact that SonyStyle.com charges full MSRP for everything it sells, and you're better off going to a brick-and-mortar store to buy a specific Sony product (that is, if that B&M store even carries that item).
