URGENT: Got new heatsink and now CPU jacked
OK, so here is my problem. I got a new heatsink (Thermalright SK-7) and decided to install it today. So I used nail polish remover and tried to get as much AS3 off as possible. I think I ended up smearing it a little and might have gotten some around a few of the bridges. I tried to get as much out and then put the heatsink on and tried to start my computer.
Now when I start my computer, the fan on the heatsink turns on and stays on for like 5 seconds, and then the whole computer shuts off. I don't know what's up, but if it is AS3 on some of the bridges, what should I use to clean it out?

k, but would the AS3 on the L1 and other bridges cause my computer to just turn off after a few seconds? It does the customary first beep and then it does a long beep, a short pause and then a long beep and then shuts off completely.
I checked what the error code means on their webpage. One is the RAM, which I reseated. There are also a few like CPU fan and CPU over heating. I hope it's not the CPU overheating considering I just installed a new heatsink.

Try taking your mobo out of the case and make sure nothing is shorting out the mobo.

what mobo is it? it wouldn't happen to be a soyo would it?

Actually it is a Soyo, so what would that mean?
I just plugged in my stock HSF to the CPU fan header but left my SK-7 on the cpu and it didn't restart. So apparently that means my fan for my new heatsink doesn't spin enough RPMs!!! Ah boy, and I wanted a quiet computer. Bah, I'll just get a vantec tornado now.

It was the fact that my new heatsink fan only spins at 2700 RPM. I wouldn't be surprised if the min allowable is 3000 RPM. Luckily I just plugged in the old one, went into the BIOS and disabled that option and now I am alright. Thanks for all your help.

yup, once you confirmed it was a soyo, i was going to tell you to plug in the fastest fan you can get, and turn that damn thing off. that's why i asked if it was a soyo, got me once too. glad to hear you figured it out.
