help, porn page keep popping up in my IE!!

I was tricked by an email to click on a webpage to a porn site and when I close the site. and all other Internet Explorer windows and started surfing the web again. I would randomly have a IE window that pops up that stupid porn sitepage.

I reset my machine and still this happens... (WinXP)

as far as I know I don't see anything loaded in my STARTUP part of the start menu and using STARTUPCPL I don't see anything on my startup load list..

I think it' might have been some script that got intalled in my IE. not that I remember agreeing to install any script from the site.

    this is the site: http://www.acmeporn.com/elitepass.ht...dia&banner=vnc

but I do'nt suggest u click on it.

This is why I run ad-aware every once in a while now. I had the same problem, but it was with an online store, not a porn site. If I was connected to the net (as I always am through my home LAN and DSL) I would andomly get advertisements for products from the site, and my homepage was fixed to their site. I couldn't find a way to change it!

Do a regedit search for any of these words, "acme", "porn", "elitepass", and "cybermedia". If the key looks suspicious then delete it.

And by the way. I suggest no one click on the link in the first post.

I use AdAware too, but I also use Pop-up Stopper from Panicware which I didn't see anyone mention..

Use msconfig to remove any malicious programs via startup ( Start> Run > msconfig > start up )

Check this webpage to identify what they are:
    http://www.lafn.org/webconnect/ment...up/PENINDEX.HTM

When in doubt, deselect everything, and boot the system up several times with only 1 selected each time. (hopefully it wont come to that)
