Buying new hard drive
I need to buy a new hard drive. I used to have a Maxtor 30gb 7200 rpm HD but last week it completely died on me. So I don't want to buy another Maxtor HD. Today I went to the computer repair shop to confirm my HD was dead and he recommended Seagate HD as the best one to get. I did some quick research and found a Seagate 60gb hard drive 7200rpm for $92. I don't want to spend much over $100 so it seems to be a good deal. Does anyone else have any other recommendations that might be better than this Seagate? Or does anyone know of any negative things about Seagate HDs? Or if you think that the Seagate 60gb HD for $92 is a good deal, just let me know that.
PS: I'm sure there are very similar topics on these boards regarding this, but unfortunately I don't have time to search for them and read them because I am currently at work. I will come back later tonight and check the responses. I apologize for any inconvience this may have caused

Mako Shark
I know you said that you do not want another maxtor but you should buy what is the best out NOW and maxtor is the best out now for your price range. $92 for a 60gig seagate sounds like a decent price.

Which Maxtor harddrive are you referring to? And where could I buy it at?
Once I get this info I will look into it. I'm still a little unsure about Maxtor HDs though...

I'm still not seeing any real advantage to getting the Maxtor over the Seagate. My Maxtor died on me in under 2 years use, and I've heard that Maxtor's are mostly garbage and that Seagates are really well made. The only thing I've read that could be considered "bad" about the Seagates is that they are NOT top performers. But if they are very reliable and very quiet and decent at performing then that is probably my best bet. Is there any other bad thing I should know about Seagate? If not, is there any reason why I shouldn't buy the Seagate Barracuda IV 60 gb 7200 rpm for $92 at Newegg.com.
Is there any other hard drive out there that can compete with the reliability, quiteness, and pricing of that 60gb Seagate HD?
Thanks for the help
