sounds to me like you have a few bad sectors on your hard drive.
if your install with your cd in the cdrw drive, and you still have the problem,
then the hard drive could be the answer

try setting your RAM to 3-3-3-7. As you can read in my other thread I found that it makes quite a lot of difference, sometimes RAM can crap out without any apparent reason.

Vacuum out your CDrom drive and see if that helps.
