I don't think DX9 support will be available for win98, or is it for DX10? Don't quote me on this.

The real question is when is DX9 gonna officially hit?!

I believe I heard that Win 98 will be on ice by end of Q0103. The rumor bird told me that Doom 3, will forgoe 9X. I believe that many driver manufacturers have cut back on 9X based releases. A sure sign that its on its way out.

Microsoft has dropped all future support for 98, so they are no longer validating drivers for that OS. That is why there are no 98 specific drivers listed on the ATi web site. You will have to use the ME drivers, since that is the only version of that platform still being supported and validated by M$.

you are kidding me right? windows 98/me both suck bad at resource management... why do you think you have to restart once a day just to keep running at full speed? i dont restart my computer in a week and because of windows 2000 and xp's lack of memory leaks (like 95/98/98se/me). and, with a system as powerful as yours... you are worried, haha, you make me laugh

Personally I was glad to see the back of it. Even Me was an improvement and XP's better again.

It can be annoying being forced to dump stuff when it's no longer supported but that's the way of the world I guess.
