Ti500 Vs Ti4200

A nice rule I like to follow is one VC per DirectX version. If you already have a DX8 card then its worthwile to wait for a DX9 card rather than just getting a faster DX8 card

Yea man I think you are fine with your Ti500 at least until NV30 comes out if you really wanna upgrade. I'ts not like you will be blown away with anything other than a 9700 at the moment. The main thing with that card is you can ramp all the visual settings and still run awesome framerates. Go look at some benches against the 4600 when the goodies are turned on. You will see that no other card can hang with it. So unless you wanna shell out some serious dough for a 9700 I would say stick with the Ti500 till NV30 (or next line of cards) comes out.

I supose Id wouldnt trade my card.. if I had a GF3... but as I have a measly GF2 Pro.. that gets 20FPS on UT2K3 at lowest resolution... well... I got myself a GF4 Ti4200.

Why, becasue the 9500 pro is about 4400/4600 level without AA and Aniso, and trashed those 2 with it on...for less money than the 4600? Go read a review and get informed before you open your mouth.

If you get the new BIOS for the 8KHA+, which is the same mobo I have, it will support the 2400+ and 2600+. Just to let you know if you didn't already

The ti500 is plenty fast for the time being. You can just down the res a little and turn off the goodies. The games will still be playable. Your card should hold you over very nicely till GFFX and the next radeon (R350) come to the market. Only problematic games are going to be Doom III and Unreal 2, but as I said, turn the res and detail down and they're still playable.

if i were you i wouldn't upgrade your ti500 to a ti4200, at tis moment you wouldn't spot any more performance between tis two, unless you ge for a ti4600, radeon9700 or even geforce fx, than i'd say you upgrade

I'm still running an original GF3 on a P3 1GHz and am waiting for early next year to upgrade video cards, (getting the rest of a new setup as I get cash ).

As pointed out, if you can recoop part of the purchase price, then it makes sense to upgrade from a Ti500 to a 4200.

I have to agree with you Steppy. Although in benchmarks the 9500pro sits at ti4400 levels, but when you enable FSAA and AS it performs remarkably.
