Sez Windows XP Professional Upgrade in big letters on the bottom of my disk. Sez Academic Edition is small letters on the upper right of the disk. Even though it's an upgrade edition I can do a clean install without using a disk from a previous version of windows.

I really need help with this. Why can't my computer boot up without the CD inside? It should save to the rom and easily load but it isn't. It just says "Verifying DMI pool... error please instert boot disk."

How can I fix this problem? I want to be able to boot without having to always have the Windows XP pro file inside my CD drive.

Press F8 when the OS starts to load. You'll get a boot menu.

When you did a clean install it gave you no errors during the install process?

i heard of this same problem from a classmate but with win2k, never knew if he resolved it

like mentioned eariler, try to repair windows.. boot with the cd and instead of chosing of installing windows, choose repair (usually it says press the R), everything is automatically, and won't take long..takes much less time than reinstalling windwos
