Arrow Dropped my load temps by 11C

For the past week I've watched my temps slowly creep up towards the red zone. Once it hit 58C under load I decided to check out what was going on. Opened up my case, took off the fan on my HS and found TONS of dust inbetween the fins on my AX-7. Cleaned them out, put everything back, and now my load is 47C (I made my comp to be quiet, not cool ).

Anyways, just reminding you all to check your HS fins if you're gonna dust out your computer

heheh yea, dust can definately hinder the airflow passing through the fins of a heatsink, especially the AX-7. I would check my fins as well, but my waterblock doesn't have any

    good reminder though

That is one helluva drop for just removing dust. I guess I'll be checking mine soon.

Can I use something like a micro-vacuum cleaner on my heatsink or do i need a piece of wire or something?

you better check your radiator's fins from time to time. mine creeps up about 3c if I let it go for a month or two.

It doesn't matter what you use as long as it doesn't damage the comp. I recommend a paintbrush and a can of compressed air

definately man. i hooked my 130CFM delta to the 7V line, so it's pretty weak right now. Hopefully because of that not much dust will develop within the fins

Vaccums tend to generate static, which would damage the components.
