    Make yourself a headphone amp

    check this out:

    http://www.minidisc.org/headbanger.html#noisebuster

Very technical, tells you exactly what to do to build your own headphone amp. I'm definitely going to build one. Doesn't cost much at all and looks like a lot of fun to build. The rewards should be great too. I don't want to pay $200-300 for a decent headphone amp, so I did a search and came up with this. For $20, you can't go wrong

Only prob is that i'm no electrical engineer. I can somewhat understand the schematic but it's been a while since I attempted anything remotely as complicated as this seems. I guess it'll make more sense to me when I actually have the parts laid out in front of me with the schematics. We'll see...but I will definitely try. I have a radioshack 5min walk away from my house, so getting parts will be easy

nothing too complicated, just a couple of amplifiers with filter compacitors, built a few of these in class in my day

what kind of quality are we talking here? I have a Sennheiser HD 570s and I want to boost the sound, but obviously it needs to be clean, smooth sound, will this home made amp be able to get the job done?

it can, depends on the quality of the parts that you use, and the quality of your craftsmanship.

    He did post a diagram:

And how it looks on the underside:

    and the top:

From what I read, the output is 100% clean (well, .2% distortion, which is WAY less than your regular output from say, your portable). The gain is 21dba, which should be enough to make your ears ring

Looks like a very nice design. I'm going out and buying the parts today if possible. Have to check my nearby radioshack and order all the parts.

I'm sure i'll need some help with this project, so all of you knowledgeable people out there can point me in the right direction if I do happen to get stuck

    Headphone Amp

What do you guys think of that? Is that worth buying and not building that junk?

You could buy that and spend 2x and less the enjoyment of building your own amp. I'm in the process of building right now, although I do have to go back to radioshack to get a few more parts (i'm missing 3 caps I need and the new project box is too small ). I expect to be finished with this project after the holidays because i'm gone most of the time. It's been fun so far

    update:

Got the three caps I needed and got a bigger box. I've been soldering for about 15 min, so far I have the ground bus 90% done, need to solder 8 more connections to make the onboard circuitry complete. Then all that is left is adding the input and 9V to the IC and connecting wires to the output and i'm done with the board. yey. I have yet to drill/wire the box. That'll happen on the 23rd and 24th when I'm back at home. Till then, peace

    It was really confused me.

Can anyone tell me what part & chips I should buy?

and do any one know how long the battery last?

There is a parts list included, just scroll down to it. Everything can be had from radioshack. The battery lasts, on average, about 26 hours.
