WIN XP messaging
OK, so some boob finally figured out taht you can message over netbui or whatever with xp and now i get all these adds and stuff. i was actually surprised it took them that long, my friend wrote a programm that sent messages over netbui or whatever protocol, but only to one ip, like a week after xp came out. ANYWAY, how do i turn it off? i know theres some service i can disable that will stop these annoying messages, i just cant remeber. thanks to anyone that can jog my memory.

There is no spoon.
The Messenger service you mean? Are you required to use NetBUI for any reason in particular?

It's the Windows Messenger service, and it's actually sent over TCP/IP, not NetBEUI. (NetBEUI is a non-routable protocol, so you can't be getting any NetBEUI traffic from the Internet.)
Just go into Computer Management, then Services, and stop & disable Messenger.

The Windows Messenger service isn't related to MSN Messenger. They're completely separate items.
