Ordering Hardware Online (question for canadians)

ehe.. this probably doesn't belong in general hardware but whatever.

I am CDN, and i want to buy hardware from the US (about $1000USD worth) and i am wondering if i buy online from the US do i have to pay canadian taxes and/or duties? Thanks for info, i need to clear this up. AFAIK i do but what percentage is the duty/tax?

You will be robbed blind, and yes I admit from experience. Even personal deals get hit too. It's not a pretty sight.

Sorry about being so blunt and vague on the details. There are so many specific loop holes and rules that the best way to find out about your estimate is call Canada Customs. I'm afraid anything over $20 US will make you susceptable to heavy taxing. I'll give you one personal example. I bought an approx $140 item(CDN$) from the US and was treated to a $95 dollar extra charge right at the door. Pretty sweet deal eh? I also depends on the carrier too. I think it was UPS that gave me a tip on making sure items were delivered priority instead of ground, but I'm not certain what the difference would be off-hand.

There are some good sites in Canada that supply just about anything such as ncix.com and some others in case you were wondering.
