    Hard drive installation help

I just got another hd. Its a maxtor 7200rpm ata133 60gb. Its all installed and the bios is picking it up. It even lists it in device manager. BUT, there is no drive letter assigned for it. I can't even go into dos and find it there either. Any ideas? Its setup as the slave drive.

Also, what about running each drive as a master. Using the Raid connections on the mobo I should be able to have both harddrives set to master, the dvd set to primary master and the burner set to secondary master right? What would be the best way to do this?

I Think you will not get a drive letter until you have partitioned and formatted the drive.
    Use Fdisk to do this.

Yes you can have each drive on its own IDE channel as master,(IDE3 IDE4).
The burner and DVD drives could also have their own channels with the burner on IDE1 and DVD on IDE2.

You can use the Maxtor install floppy to set up partitons/active partition or as Lord Vetinari suggested, use a bootable floppy and fdisk.

Is your current hard drive already on one of the RAID channels?

Lord Vetinari is correct. No drive letter assigned until it is partitioned.
