    WinME Disc letter assignment

Minor problem- recently swapped out a disc drive (drive letter D) and now I have the original drive appearing as a phantom drive (does not exist) and the replacement drive appearing as drive H.
    Original set up
    Disc 1, 3 partitions C F G
    Disc 2, 1 Partition D
    Disc 3, 1 partition E

    Replaced disc 2

    Now Have

    Disc 1, 3 partitions C F G
Disc ?, ? Partition D has no properties- does not exist
    Disc 3, 1 partition E
    Disc 4, 1 partition H (replacement drive)
Any ideas how to get rid of the phantom D drive and get the H drive as drive D?

OS is WinME- I do have WinXP as a dual boot and this has no probs with the drive swaps.

try unplugging the last drives, then reboot, shut it down, add the drive, then reboot it should sort itself out

as long as you put them back in the order you want them to appear this should work (including the cd-rom)

time consuming though, are you sure you want a d drive
Drive it like you stole it

I was actually more worried about why I have a "ghost" drive as D that doesn't exist. plus I actually do have some progs loading from what is now the H drive.
Obviously I could just re-do the links for these plus stop the ghost drive appearing (Using TweakUI).

Update to situation:- checked the H: disk with Fdisk- said it was Fat16 (don't know how that happened)so I converted it to FAT32 with partition magic and after doing this the The phantom D: disk disappeared, the H: disk disappeared and re-appeared as the Drive.
    Go figure that.
    At least I'm happy now.
