Toshiba DVD-rom drive doesn't detect as Ultra DMA anymore, why?

I'm not 100% confident but I'm sure it use to be in Ultra DMA mode before. My burner is in Ultra DMA mode 2 right now but my dvd-rom is in PIO mode. I have alot of stuff from cd's to copy and before it use to be just fine when copying stuff to my hd from both cd-rom drives at once. Now it lags like heck when I copy stuff from my dvd-rom, anyway I can fix this?
