Ok, I Finished Nolf 2 But....

I was really disappointed in the game. The cleverness and flair of the original were sadly lacking in Nolf2. Truthfully, I found VERY FEW of the conversations between baddies to be funny. Where was the "UH - OH! Dead Person!" from the original? I remember rolling aroung the floor laughing at the G_A_Y scientists in the original. Where were the rolling hills and outdoor treks the original had. Simply, they weren't there. The characters seemed VERY plastic along with the very FORCED accents and dialogue. It's hard to believe that the same people were responsible for the voices. Granted, the Jupiter version of the Lithtech engine did look good. But Not the HUGE step forward that many people were saying. Texturing was better, water was better..... but there the list runs out..............I'm disappointed that such an unworthy sequel was released in the shadow of the brilliant original.

    PS.(Why is the word G A Y filtered??????)

Don't know about the G.A.Y filter but inregards to NOLF2 i liked it a lot. It is probably my favorite game of 2002 but it wasn't as good as the first, not even close. Your right on all the conversations but I still think the game is great especially the Magnus on a tricycle part. I do understand where your coming from though as I also was a little dissapointed in the humor, just not as much as you.

Okay, I'll be odd man out here. I thought it was great and definitely better than the first graphics and sound wise. The addition of upgrading stats was okay, but I never maxed anything out or got even close so I was kinda like, whats the point? The only thing that disappointed me was it's length. Couple more hours woulda been nice. As far as being funny, what about the guard that got a promotion and was worried about his evil laugh...too funny. Or when Armstrong got kicked out the bar twice. The sound you hear when someone slips on a banana peel was classic and a great addition to the game. And of course, who could forget man-crates??!! Even better when they chased you later in the game "ow, ooh, ouch" Too funny. This is my fav game of 2k2, even over Neverwinter Nights, GTA3, Dungeon Seige, and many others I played.

The evil laugh! You found that funny?? Well ok it wasn't bad. But the Man crates I just thought was weird. MOST of the jokes I simply sighed at just wishing I could find it funny. The whole India thing I just found frustrating. I kept wanting to fill those fat police full of bullet holes so they'd stop bothering me. Where was the variety of environments the original had??? Guess I was just disappointed with it. I had hopes the game would be as good as the original and it wasn't.

i thought the ending was sucktastic. it left a bunch of plot holes open and was neither a "SEQUEL COMING SOON" kind of ending or a full on "This is what happens to Cate 40 years after this happens, enjoy!" kind of ending. if they'd just went with "The End... Or IS IT?", i'dve been less mad. as it is, it irked me that they could have made the ending so much funnier/longer/whatever than they did.

as for the rest of the cutscenes; they read like a bunch of high schoolers saying "well crap, we gotta get this done. let's throw some slapstick in here and get some beer!" i mean, what happens to Isako? Can they do anything more with the Director than that lame mother-calling joke? Why does it take so long to finish the Siberia missions? WHY CAN'T I THROW THE BEER BOTTLES AT PEOPLES'S HEADS?

the questions will never be answered.

Look I tell you! Load up the goddam original and get to the G A Y scientists discussing having backrubs later on. The evil laugh will quickly fade from your mind. And the guy trying to sell a guard a monkey right at the beginning. Man.... THAT was funny. Evil Laugh Schmarf!
