Are you STILL having problems with the RADEONS??
I'm quite interested in people who aren't interested in getting the geforce FX and their reasons for not wanting it. Up until now I've been a VOODOO then NVIDIA man. I've often believed that you should go with the most popular / supported graphics card to minimise any drama later on. NOW in my mind, the Geforce line of cards still seems to have an edge over the Radeon cards in the number of drama's that crop up for both cards. I STILL see people posting that their Radeon card is doing something weird. Heaps of stuff like "Need HELP with my 9500" etc, etc...
Currently, I'm still thinking I'll get a Geforce FX unless it turns out to be not so good. Do you guys with Radeons still get glitches with stuff??????

I had a few problems at first with my 9700 pro but a few updates and everything went away. It was a real hard decision I had to make on waiting for the FX or just to go ahead and go with the 9700 pro. I knew I'd have to get the GF FX Deluxe as if I was going to get the latest card I'd want it to be the best. And an estimated $500 and no real knowledge as to when it's going to be available I had to go with the 9700 pro. I'm happy with it... I really didn't want to switch from nvidia's to the radeon's but now I'm glad I did and the pre-release info about the card isn't really making me feel otherwise. However the look of the FX its required 2 expansion slots really did appeal to me. Like I said I've no problems with it now no glitches no nothing. If you have the money and are willing to wait I'd say go ahead and wait for information on the release product then make your decision as everything right now is pre-mature.

After the demise (RIP) of 3DFX Voodoo I was also an Nvidia guy...
Until I played QuakeIII on an ATI Radeon 8500. I remain convinced
that ATI gives you all you could want AND lots of Eye candy-not just FPS. Just built a new system New Years Day.
Runs perfect w Radeon 8500 LE. NO problems at all.

Yeah, actually on that point of visual quality. Many people do actually say that Radeons produce a much more vibrant colour (Australian spelling). To be honest, most screenshots comparing the two don't actually show up much of a difference. Can you guys really see a difference between Geforces and Radeons.
On the point of problems. I know that when the 8500 came out people were having all sorts of issues with it, mostly driver related or so people seemed to think back then. Is it now the case with the 9000 series of cards and the Catalyst drivers, that things have gotten seriously better??????

Mr Zurkon is here to kill
I bought mine a month after it's release...every problem I had has been caused by myself...nothing but praise for my card
*EDIT* also I noticed over the months I had it the drivers has become a lot more better in both speed and stability...

Might I point out that in screenshots, you are viewing both screens with the same graphics card? IE, if you took one shot on an 8500, and one on a GF3, and looked at both on a computer with a Parhelia, you are seeing Parhelia output, not 8500 or GF3. To compare video output of 2 cards, you need 2 systems next to each other with everything the same except the video cards. Same monitor, and both monitors need to be calibrated.
Comparing screenshots will show any differences in rendering, but it won't show diffences in the RAMDACs or in the filters on the cards, and that's where most of the differences lie. From what I have seen of objective testing of cards (Oscope traces of black to white transistions, stability within a color band, etc.) in general, the following applies: GF2 < GF3 < Radeon < 8500 < GF4 < G550 < Parhelia.
I don't know where the MX cards or LE cards fall - I have not seen those tested. I also have not seen the 9000, 9500, or 9700 tested, but I would imagine that they are at least as good as a GF4. Unless they are 3rd party, then who knows...
