Color preferences...32 or 16?
Howdy folks!
While browsing through my control panel the other day, I found a slider to change the color depth from 16 to 32. It's set on 16, should I set it on 32 or not? And what exactly does the "bit" mean?

Yes, there is a noticable difference between 16 bit and 32 bit color. The difference lies in the accuracy of the colors that are being display on your screen. Go with 32-bit

I did a small comparison with ut2k3 and you can judge for yourself...I also included a fps counter...personally I like 32 bit because it just makes things like smoke look a lot more better and I get distracted a lot by the little things like that...also please consider that because of the jpeg compression the colors may not be the same but it gives you a general look at things...settings are in 1024x768 maxed details:

Not that I can see any difference in the posted jpgs, but IMHO if you paid for 32 bit you should use them.

But I noticed in 16bit you get 10fps more. The only time I used 16 bit was with my GF2 MX card it helped that cards performance alot switching to 16 bit color.

Any card besides Voodoo and Kyro looks terrible in 16-bit color. If I have a GeForce3/Radeon 8500 or above I'll be using 32-bit color .

My Voodoo Banshee dithered well, so I never missed 32 bit color. But today I wouldn't consider going back.
"16 bit" refers to the number of bits per pixel (dot on your monitor screen). 16 bits is approximately 65,000 colors. Thats not enough to show your eyes good color definition.
