SCSI 68pin?

I have a server with a SCSI motherboard and hard drive. I wanna add another hd to it, but since I didn't make this one, I'm really in the dark about scsi. Are all 68pin scsi hard drives compatable? Basically can i buy any 68ping scsi hard drive?

I've seen things like scsi2 or ultra, no idea... any help, thanks.

68 pin cables are for scsi that transfers in 16 bits, while 50 pin transfers 8 bits. you also have to know what type of bus you're using. single ended bus, high voltage differential, or low voltage differential. you can't mix hvd devices on another type of bus. SE and LVD cant be mixed but will then run everything using SE bus.

Current mobo SCSI interfaces are almost exclusively LVD. Use the mobo model number to find out the exact specs for the scsi bus or you might make an expensive mistake.

Okay thanks for the heads up guys. I didn't even think of checking out the mobo model number. I really don't know anything about it, I got it from a company for some contracting work. Its a dual p-3, with a hotswap scsi drive. I just wanna put another one in. Alright i'll get the model num and do some researching... thanks.
