2GIg Proc for C&C generals
from fileplanet:
The C&C Generals Multiplayer Test on FilePlanet will only available to FilePlanet subscribers. This test was created in November 2002, so it will not contain all of the bug fixes, optimizations, art and interface revisions, and additional features added to the retail game during the beta process.
To run the preview, your computer MUST be powered by at least a 2 gigahertz CPU, 512 MB of RAM, and GeForce4 or more recent Dircet3D-capable video card.
This sneak peek was orginally the beta for Multiplayer Test Generals, so there may be bugs that have been fixed for the retail version.
Is this insane or what...2 gigs? good god I want to play the demo but not that bad...how unecenomical can you make code?

A 2000+ will probably do since it outperforms a intel cpu clocked at 2ghz.
Anyways, that's just plain stupid IMO. Is it really that good?

imo the game looks nice but not THAT nice to require such a high end computer...

Awesome.
Its only the requirements for the beta
-
Hammerhead Shark
bad enough if that's the requirement for the beta, I do not think that the final version will be THAT different.

The game will run fine on older hardware. Its just the test doesn't have all the optimizations, as you said. So you need raw power to run the game now.

Err, 2GHz is way too high for a game of its kind. I'm looking forward to it anyways.

Awesome.
The beta is most likely for a small control group and lacks any low-res textures, hence the horrible requirements.

this reminds me of WC3 when it was beta
