I have that motherboard, in the config listed in my sig. Problem I am/was having was with the fan speed. I use MBM5, Asus PC Probe and Speedfan, and they all agree - as the temperature increased, the CPU fan would slow down. I was getting very high temps, like 55 C folding and on ocassion 60-65 C folding and playing Hitman 2.

At first, I was thinking the high temps had something to do with poor HSF contact (retail HS). I scrapped off the thermal tape and applied AS2, but the temps stayed the same. The retail fan should have done OK, and MB temps were roughly 5 degrees above ambient. I finally noticed that the CPU fan speed declined when the temps went up. At 65 C the fan was turning about 900 RPM, whereas at 30 or so it was closer to 2,000. My guess this is exactly opposite of what is suppose to happen.

I decided to connect the CPU fan directly to the molex connector, however there is apparently a polarity issue: the retail fan popped and smoked I set an old 80mm fan atop my AGP card to keep some air blowing across the HSF, and believe it or not it never went over 40 C, even after 1/2 hour of Hitman 2.

I bought a new Alpha 4290 from 1coolpc (USPS is nice), and plan on dropping a Sunon on it. My question is: anyone ever have a similar problem with this motherboard? Temps increasing should mean fan speed increasing right? Also, this P4T has power on via PS2 keyboard, and mine will not work (older IBM keyboard)). I basically built this using the November's dream machine specs for the MB ram and video, and it is fairly powerful (14,500 all stock, 15,500 until heat stopped me). Should I RMA this board, or maybe it's something else? I'm going to yank my 431 PSU from my old system, maybe 350 watts ain't enough? Any help/comments would be appreciated
