    Installing Maxtor PCI 133 Card

I bought a Maxtor 80 gig hard drive a while ago and installed it w/o the PCI 133 Card (thought I'd sell it originally).

Now I'd like to install the PCI card and hook the Hard Drive up to it and get the boost. But when reading the instructions it says you must install the PCI card first, then hook the hard drive to it. DOH!

    I have:

Epox motherboard that supports up to 100 transfer rate.

Has anyone installed the PCI-133 card after the hard drive has been running for a while? Am I going to have problems w/windows recognizing the drive is being used?

I'm currently using the drive as my primary boot device too!

    Thanks!

Dont even waste your time. You wont "see" anything unless you waste all of your time benchmarking.

you would likely have problems booting up if you decided to install the ata133 card and move your system drive over to it. your boot.ini file currently points to the ide channel where the drive is connected in order to find start up files, so moving that drive means that when your computer starts up , it won't be able to find where start up files are, etc...i've currently got that exact maxtor ata133 card in my rig, running both my maxtor drives, and the performance difference between ata100 and ata133 is pretty much nil, so IMO i'd just sell it.
