My Corsair TWINX512-3200LLPT and A7N8X-dlx results

Well, I just built a system for a friend of mine. I told him to get the a7n8x deluxe and that we'll switch it out cuz my firewire didn't work on my old board (it works on this new board though ) but he didn't care. I also had him buy the twinx3200llpt's and I'll trade him my 512mb sammy pc3200 stick for the twinx's and the led case fans. Well, I got my unlocking kit today in the mail and I unlocked my cpu after like 2 tries (but each attempt to get that darned grease on correctly took like 20 mins of trial and error). Well, booted up, got the multiplier manipulation to work =) so here I went...

Changed fsb to 180, booted up into Windows just fine. Was I going to test if it was stable? Screw that, 200. Booted up just fine, did one sisoft benchmark and then rebooted...too bad I didn't stay to test if it was stable. 211 wouldn't boot up (I flashed the 1001g to 1001c), so I tried 204...nothing. Back to 200. I tried the timings it's rated at (6222), it would boot into Windows but then slowdown dramatically out of no where. Also, my monitor would just go black every now and then for some reason and then keep on doing that for awhile and then eventually reboot. Well, I tried 8222, nothing. 6332...then 6222.5, then 6332.5. 6332.5 worked but uhh, what the heck. Right now I'm sitting at 198x8 on my 1600+...stable at 6222. Gonna try other bios's tomorrow but for today, I'm done. Just wanted to report that my twinx3200llpt's couldn't run at 200 at rated timings (although 198 is pretty close). Oh yeah, been running prime95 for the past hour or so...but the benchmarks I got were in the 2900's @ 200 (6222)...

Try the 1002 Beta Bios. I got 225Fsb with it.

Hmm, just updated to the 1002 final beta uber version...200 wasn't stable at 6222 (my screen turned black for a second)...I'm at 197 right now. I should get rid of that stuff under the chipset heatsink but eh, I feel lazy. 198 crashed last night at 6222 while I was sleeping =\ but yeah, what are your timings?

I'm fine at 195MHz frequency for now. When I go over 200MHz (even with lower multiplier) I get video errors or I would have an even faster FSB. It won't post over 203MHz either. My timings however are 3222, so it seems the ram loves me, unless I go over 203MHz.

Well, I'm back in Houston now for the weekend so I can't really mess around with my system but it was running at 197 for around 4-5 hours just fine. I was running prime95 in the background also. I think my screen blacked out once on me but at least winamp didn't mess up on me. Can you do 197 or 198?

Try running your Cas Latency at 2.5.

If I go over 195 I lose stability. I even tried killing my ram timings (6,3,3,2.5) and still was unable to maintain stability.

It's probably due to the fact that the NB isn't being fed enough voltage. Over 200fsb seems to need a tad bit more voltage on the NB than it is being supplied most of the time. Only way to do this is volt modding the board...If you have a look around, most of the people that are way past 200mhz indeed have volt modded their boards to give the extra juice the NB needs to operate at the extreme speed.

I believe the hacked uber bios gives the option to feed more voltage to the NB. Check it out if you want to try this.

You still might want to clean up the pink goo asus left behind under the heatsink.

Yeah but I don't think anyone has really tested to see if that option really works (the voltage mod). I'm gonna clean up that pink goo when I go back to my aparment...
