    Dial up !!!

My Internet has been acting really temperamental. I connect to the (dial up modem) Internet it works for a short period; I connect to Instant Messenger and then every so often get disconnected from AIM. So it will eventually figure out I am actually on the internet and then reconnect me.
I would like possible suggestions; I’m thinking this is a software issue…
How do I uninstall tcp/ip so that I can reinstall with fresh settings. I’m running M$ XP. Thanks.

Right Click on Network NEighbor Hood<Properties > Right Click on Your Dial up connection < Properties...and you will see the TCP/IP protocall there.

Now just click on it, and put in the information that you want to put in there.

I would like to reset or re-install my TCP/IP connections-configurations. How might I go about doing so?

The cause could be a lot of things. You may have a modem trying to crap out on you or phone line problems inside or outside. One way to find out if you are having phone line problems is pick-up reciever push any number and listen for static or just call someone and listen for noise. Line noise will kill your connection. I would try uninstalling modem drivers and reinstalling. In my case the connection at the pole was bad causing static and constant disconnects. Another time thier was a wasp nest in the box on the pole(phone serviceman loved that one).
Thank you sir. May I have another?
