whoa... i never imagined how much IE really sucked :D

i just downloaded opera and i'm freaking amazed! it's great

a question though, not all the images like smilies, avatars, and some of the buttons(like send reply) are showing up. is there an option i'm missing for this? i cant seem to find it
another thing is i cant play .mov files in the browser. when i select get plugin, it just sends me to the quicktime download. how do i associate the file?
i looked in the mime settings and it seems to be associated already

.MOV files don't play in Opera here either. Maybe it's a plug-in incompatibility or something. I personally use Mozilla and haven't had any problems with it.

man, there's gotta be a way for that to work...

the only way i got quicktime to work in opera version 6, not 7, but i suppose it should be the same is to install quicktime "after" you install oprea.

Be aware that major security holes have been identified in Opera 7 (and earlier versions, I assume)- TechWeb story - which are said to be fixed in 7.01.

There are many web sites that Opera cannot display correctly because of incompatibilities. Don't throw away IE just yet.

I got tired of running multiple browsers so now I use IE only.

This is more the problem of the coder of websites. I hate having to use IE to crutch those that cant even write decent html. I cant think of anything off the top of my head that the gecko renderer cant do though there is prolly one or two things.

It isn't a coder problem, it is a feature issue. I visit several websites that require IE because of the features they use are not available in other browsers. All of these are secure sites that check the browser version and explitly reject you if your browser is not a specific release of IE. It is similar to sites that reject you if you are not using an Apple operating system.

Even a very public site such as Bank of America restricts the browsers that can be used for online banking. They rejected connections from IE6 when I was testing Windows XP a few years ago. The bank replied that they only allow connections from browser versions they have tested because they do not want a "special version" browser to compromise security.
