    Well, they say it should be 30% cheaper than competing SCSI drives, which means that a single platter 36 GB drive would run for ~$120, and a dual platter 72 GB would be ~$200. A 148 GB drive (4 platters) would run in the ~$550 range.
    One by one, the penguins are stealing my sanity.

    Dang that thing is awesome! That 5 year warranty is pretty sweet. WD must be loyal in their HD's in reliability to have the good of a warranty.

    its an 8 meg cache, and just wait till the competiton gets some ammo to use, then a nice little price war will start. i'd imagine that the hard drives would still be on the high end, but more in the $350-$400 price range, not $550+.

    all i can say is it's about damn time! wasnt ibm supposed to release a 10,000rpm ide drive like 2 years ago? i remember one of the selling points of my old fong kai case was it was rated for the "new" ibm 10,000 rpm drives which were supposed to hit the market shortly after.
