Rounded IDE Cables
Is anyone using 24" rounded IDE cables? If so, have you experienced any problems such as data corruption?

I use 18", not 24", but haven't had any problems, nor have ai ever heard of any before. My buddy has 24" cables in his, and he hasn't had any problems. HTH

Sounds good. Does anyone know if most of these rounded cables support ATA-133 and ATA-100? Also, are they 40-pin or 80-pin?

i haven't seen ANY rounded cables (except homemade ones ) that are not 80pin and capable of ata100/133. the only 40 pin cables are old ata33 cables, everything beyond that is 80pin.
also, according to IDE specs, cables are not supposed to be longer than 18" because of signal distortion or attenuation. in reality 24" cables are probably ok, but i'm pretty skeptical of 36" ones. for cd-roms maybe, but i wouldn't trust 'em for an ata100/133 hard drive.

you won't need anything more then 18 inch rounded cables unless full tower. Mid-tower cases even a step down from 18inches works fine.

Me too. Its pretty easy if you ask me...just cut the flat cable in parts of five wires or so, wrap the whole thing with black electrical tape, and apply spiral loom. Looks nice in this PC.

There's plenty of places to buy rounded IDE cables, it just depends where you live and whether you want to buy online or not.
BTW, I did pick up 2x 24" IDE cables and 1x 24" floppy cable. They work great and look great, with no problems so far. Maybe it's just me, but my DVD-ROM seems to be installing several games faster than it would've taken on my old IDE cable

I ordered my cables from them on Sunday, got them on Wednesday, damn good if you ask me. I should've got a 24 inch cable for my cd-rom drives but oh well, they work good enough. Unless you have a huge then 18" is good enough, 24" wouldn't hurt though.
