g4 or radeon
The new geforce fx card is coming out soon and ive read many good reviews, but alot of them say that the radeon beat it by a small margin. I was thinking about ordering one but dont know which is really better. any thoughts?

Untill we see a release card with good drivers, we don't really know. Maybe new drivers will up the FX AA and aniso performance. Maybe it is as good as it becomes.
Right now it looks like this:
The FX wins if you don't use anti aliasing and anisotropic filtering.
The Radeon 9700 Pro with those turned on.
I think that points to the direction of radeon, since you want those turned on if you are going to buy such an expensive card.
The both cards are really very close in performance.
One big downside (in my opinion) of the FX is that it at least in the samples the reviewers got is very loud, and I don't want that in my computer.
All that said, it's up to you. I would go Radeon 9700 Pro.

Im surprised you didnt formulate your own opinion about the FX based on the "Many Reviews" you have read.
Out of the Many Reviews I have read it was an easy choice, Radeon.

Have you not heard? The hot running Fx will go to some pre order customers then will be discontinued. A cooler lower clocked version of the card will come out but will be more in the 9500 pro's performance range than the 9700's.
So its all up to the price its arrives at. I dought even hard core Nvidia fans will pay a high end card price for a mid range card performance.

Go for a Radeon 9500 Pro! Who gives a **** if you have to reformat, atleast you get a nicer video card.

The GF FX release is so close... Why not just wait it out?
I see it like this, the GF FX comes out, a month passes and prices drop like wild fire! THat's a lot less hours that you have to put it to get the money that you invested back : )

Expensive Sushi
Definitely Radeon.
The price difference between Geforce FX and Radeon 9700 is not worth the quality. I think many may agree.
