Why's my 1.8A so hot?
I just got a BE7 with a 1.8A and had the intention to OC obviosly. But at defualt(1.8) setting the CPU temp reads as 45-50 degrees Cel idle and just over 50 under full load. This cant be right, I removed the retail heatsink/fan and the crappy themal grease stuff on it and tried some arctic silver but that didn't change things at all. Funny thing is, everything seems stable and if I juice it up to 2.4 Ghz the temps stay almost exactly the same, this is all at stock voltage BTW. Any suggestions, besides the obvious "go buy a killer heatsink"?

RIP SiS :(
What are your case fans like (which? where? what direction?)?
Also, make sure to apply a very thin layer of as3 (I emphasize, paper thin) while using a razor to smooth/even it out. It's tricky to get the hang of at first, I admit.
You'll notice your best temps from as3 in about 2 weeks after applying it, too.
I hope that helps.

Umm, what's your case temp? Your heatsink fan is blowing ON to the heatsink, right? Do you have proper intake/exhaust fans setup? Reduce the voltage?

My motherboard temps are reading kinda high too, around 35-40 deg Cel. I have an intake fan in the front and an exhaust fan in the back. These are in addition to my Antec SmartBlue dual fan power supply. While this is nothing elaborate, I would expect it to be enough to keep a retail P4 at stock settings adequately cool. Oddly, the temp doesn't change when I overclock it. I ran Sandra's Burn-in wizard 30x last night with it at 2.4 and the temps never went more than the usual ~4deg above idle(55deg max). Could my motherboard be reporting the temps wrong? Because the system is rock stable so far, I'm just worried about burning up the CPU in 3mos if its really running that hot. Any further help would be greatly appreciated.

You can get a fairly cheap thermal probe at Radio Shack.
