Who knew, Walmart is good for something after all. :-)

nice little review.
FYI I think youll find that the more pronounced atifacts in images is related to the dot pitch of the LCD.

Nice read there, but I used Microtek LCD's before and I think they are crap. They are just very cheap and the image is subpar compared to similar models.

hmmm, never had the pleasure of seeing a good LCD monitor
I gotta pay a visit to my friend who have a NEC 19" ($1000 when he got it) and see how awesome it is..
hmm.. then I'll proably be unhappy when I see mine again

Believe it or not, how much one spends no an LCD doesn't necessarily = better quality. In my office, we bought about 14 of the NEC 20" LCD's (when they were 8k a pop) and every single one of them was garbage. The image was so grainy that it really wasn't good for anything other than basic duties from afar. I was pretty shocked by that.

GO BENGALS!!!!!
My school purchased this LCD from Wal-Mart for testing purposes. I was very unimpressed by it.

just curious. why do u people say the microtek sucks.
I never saw a more expensive LCD in action so I don't know but the microtek is pretty good for what I do. and that's what I tell people.
but I don't want to misslead them if the monitor is crap.

it's $398 and it's 18"
the only down side I see is the lack of DVI connection and the 30ms response time.
2 months ago I almost bought a 17" LCD for $500 and I thought that was cheap.

Personally I think for the price it can't be beat. If you're not a gamer that is...
Athlon 64 3700+
2GB Micron DDR400
Shuttle ST20G5 SFF
ATI X800XL 256mb
Seagate 160GB
Generic 8x4x8x DVD+-RW
Dell 17" Trinitron (just bought a 2005fpw!!)
And my soon to be 1.5TB server
