unlocking higher 2100+ mults on 8k5a2+
Well, I just finished unlocking the lower multiplyers on my new 2100b. I had fun really upping the fsb for a while, but what I would really like to do is keep it at 166 fsb and up the mult to, say, 14.5 (2407mhz).
I have learned that more modification will have to be done to the L3 bridges in order to achieve mults higher than 13, but you can only achieve one set multiplyer at a time, and you have to cut some bridges as well as paint others.
(Info according to: tbred multiplyer chart)
To get the 14.5 multiplyer, I am going to have to remove the connection I made on the last l3 bridge, and I will have to 'cut' the first two L3 bridges. I have read about people using an exacto knife, but I sure don't want to slip and totally ruin my new chip.
At any rate, I would love some feedback as to whether or not anybody else has cut bridges, and successfully raised their multiplyers on tbred 2100b chips/kt333 boards past 13.
Also, if I were to successfully get 14.5 mult, how much vcore do you predict I will need to make the 166 x 14.5 stable?
Lastly, for all of you non nforce2 guys, what is the highest agp/pci freq that you are willing to allow out of spec? I know many of you push 200fsb, but aren't you a little scared only having a 1/5 divider?

14.5 and 17.5 are reserved, you can't get them.
14 you can get if your board allows, maybe you can work with that???
yes, these boards really whip fastest when closer to the 166 for some reason, and with the memory running turbo, gawd they are fast.
good luck.

reserved, eh? that's ok -- a 14 multiplier would be just fine too.
Does anybody that has experience cutting bridges have any advice?
Also, I'm still curious what is the max people are willing to run their agp/pci out of spec ...

Sorry to have to bump this up, but I'm still looking for some info and help before I take the plunge. I'd like to get to work on this as soon as I can, but I want a little reassurance that cutting L3 bridges is going to give me the higher 14 multliplyer that I want. Anybody??
