    Microsoft's Activation...

    Really isn't that painful. I've had to activate my copy of Windows XP about 6 times total now, and it's slightly annoying since when upgrading you have to activate after every major change, but the calls are pretty simple, and the support has been pretty good. Well, just thought I'd let you all know, you always hear the problems, but you never hear the praises.

    I have actually never registered and copy of Windows XP. I bought the corp. version so it's much easier.

    I'm almost certain that my university sold me a corporate version since I've never had to activate it...

    You can't buy the corporate version. I have the corporate version.
    Sometimes it ask for the oem number sometimes it doesn't. I can't
    install sp1 unless i change the oem number though. Uh does this mean
    you all are gonna report me????

    i bought XP from my college (salisbury state) and ive upgraded/ reformatted many, many times and never had to register.
