Get this: a keyboard split in half and one on each leg, a touch pad on your chest, and some monitor glasses. Laptop in a backpack or have the capability for wireless network. Could it be done?

If you played UT on it, you might appear to be engaging in foreplay with yourself.

One of my electrical engineer friends had a backpack PC in a perspex case. Unfortunately the Game Gear wasn't that great a display and a desktop motherboard/CPU (Celeron, microATX) required a hefty amount of batteries.

The same thing that happens if you push your computer off your desk. Both things have happened to me exactly the same number of times in the past year, though.

Interesting design there.

I though I was going to read about an article I read a few days ago. About scientist using DNA to process information. Currently it is still in the early stage, but it can process yes or no information. And if I recall correctly it was 2,000 times faster then the fastest computer

I like to see where that would go in a few years.

oh thats hilarious

wouldnt it be a rather expensive falling down tho? i mean what happens if u decide "oh i want a cup of tea", so u get up from your comfy chair, whilst watching something in the glasses and then promptly fall over the dog - things happen that u dont plan, just coz u havent fallen over for a few months doesnt mean u aint gunna.

ill keep my desktop for the moment i think

P.S. what would you do if u wanted a joystick for this idea?

lol, why would u wanna wear a computer? just use a laptop.
thats like reading a book and walking, (no wonder we have soo many accidents in driving or bumping into people for no reason).

it would be cool to put all that on a toilet though, taking a dump and playing ur fav game on the pc.

Some company makes a wearable computer. A tiny keyboard attaches to your wrist, and i think the pointer device is attached to your fingers. The computer is on a belt, and they have glasses that have a transperent display, so u can actually see things and play a game at the same time.

Nothing hard about it.. Small enough computers exist - Sony Vaio C1 series. Head mounted displays - Sony Glasstron, Olympus EyeTrek. Pointing device - bluetooth trackball? Chorded keyboards are about the only one I couldn't instantly lay my hands on..

This is definately possible, and is actually not that expensive (cheaper than many computers).

Computer: Any laptop, put it in a backpack. ($1000-stratosphere)
Monitor: Eyeglasses with an LCD (can't remember the link), support resolution up to 800x600. ($400-$600)
Keyboard: One of those bendable rollout ones. ($30)
Mouse: Trackball would be better (since it's stationary), otherwise, any wireless mouse ($40-$75).
Sound: Any small/light headphones ($10-$100)
Surpassing Bill Gates' nerdiness by sitting on a bus stop looking like a cyborg while passers-by stare in pitied awe as you succumb to your addiction to UT: Priceless.

then of course you could somehow wire in 2-4 car batteries for extra long life. then you could also get a touch pad about 4*2 and put it on your arm. you could also get a wireless lan and have a huge antena sticking out of your bag. so you could walk around or watch tv and play UT2003. maybe some stormtrooper armor and you definatly look like a cyborg.

If you then replace the 2.5" HDD with one of these:
CF to 2.5"IDE
you can reduce the power requirements even lower and have an entirely solid state system! 4Gb (flash based) CF cards have been announced - 1Gb (flash based) cards are shipping in volume.
