    Case fan stuff

I just wrote up my list of hardware I want when I get the money to buy it. I have a 3dcool (3dcool.com) Tornado 1000 case. From looking at their website today I guess my case got retired and now the Tornado 1500 took its place. I love my case as it is and would probably go w/ the 1500 unless I decide to stay w/ my old case. It was talking about 3pinned fans and 4pinned fans. The two fans had the same RPMs. My question is, what does dba stand for, and is a high or low number a good thing. Also, CFM... high or low number good? And should I be caring about the number of pins? Pfft.

    Ok, here's some definitions:

CFM = cubic feet per minute. It is the amount of airflow. The higher the better of course.

dba = decibels. It is a way to rate noise. It is a logarythmic scale, meaning a jump by 10dba means 100x the noise. the lower the better here.

As for 3 pin and 4 pin, i'd get 4 pin. 4 pin means that you plug the fans to a molex connector instead of a 3 pin header on the motherboard itself. The con with the 4 pin is that you don't get rpm sensing. However, i feel this is a useless function on a case fan anyways. There are only a few 3 pin connectors on a mobo, so it's better to get 4 pin fans because you have unlimited connectors for 4 pin (i'm assuming the 4 pin connector is a passthrough connector here, which they are 99% of the time).

    Hope that helps.
