The card will be replacing the 9500 pro. Based on benches i've seen so far, I think it's gonna be faster than the 9500 pro. I haven't seen any head to head, but from the benches I have seen (9600 compared to ti4200 and ti4600) it seems to be quite a bit faster than the 9500 pro.
9600 is clocked higher than the 9500 but only has 4 pipelines compared to 8 for the 9500pro..
Asus A7n8x 2.0
AMD T'bred XP 2400 2.0ghz
Windows XP Pro
Corsair XMS 512 2700 DDR
80GB Western Digital HDD ATA/133
Lite-on 52x24x48 CDRW
Radeon 9700 Pro(Bios flashed 340/325)
Black Aluminum Chenming Case
Antec Trueblue 350W
Samsung 995DF 19"
1.5/256 DSL
I dont think 4 pipelines will hurt performance much, of course in fill rate tests but in actual gameplay memory bandwith is king, which is why a ti500 is marginally slower than a ti4200
